I’ll be hosting a Women Entrepreneurs Writing Retreat the weekend of Mar 30-Apr 1, 2012. Our small group of 8-10 women will be staying at the Grand Island Getaways Retreat Center in Walnut Grove, CA. You’ll have three days of quality writing time, plus optional morning writing exercises and evening readings, and access to a writing reference library. Get that book started or finished, design your workshop series or home-study course, or write months worth of articles or blog posts in this friendly, supportive environment. Your lodging and meals will be included at one low price.

The Grand Island Retreat Center is a beautifully-restored 1947 home along the Sacramento River, about 6 miles from the quaint town of Walnut Grove. The Center is 70 miles from San Francisco or San Rafael, 85 miles from San Mateo, and 60 miles from Oakland. There’s a full kitchen, plenty of parking, and a private dock on the river.

Our group writing room is spacious and filled with natural light. You’ll have your own 6′ writing table to spread out all your materials, a writing reference library to browse, and wireless Internet for your laptop or netbook. Share a quiet bedroom with one or two other women entrepreneurs, each with your own single bed, and enjoy home-cooked gourmet meals made from fresh, local foods.

We’ll start each day with a group writing exercise to get your creativity flowing. In the evening after dinner, we’ll share readings of the day’s work. (These sessions are optional.) You’ll be able to write for as many hours as you like, with coffee, tea, and kitchen access available 24 hours. We’ll observe quiet writing times during the day and evening. At meals and breaks, you’ll have a chance to get acquainted with the other women attending.

Your stay will last from noon on Friday to 4:00 PM Sunday. We’ll serve 5 meals — Friday dinner, 3 meals on Saturday, and Sunday brunch — plus snacks and beverages. You can also come a day earlier for a small additional cost.

The total price for three days and two nights, including lodging and meals, will be $310 for triple occupancy (3 women per room) or $355 for double occupancy (2 women per room). Invite a friend to share your room, or come alone and you’ll be matched with a roommate. Arrive on Thursday, and you can stay an extra day for $105-135, meals included. A deposit of $100-150 will hold your place, with the balance due on Feb 21.
